Cinematographer: Rajendra Kesani
Music Director: Phani Kalyan
Story, Screen play, Direction: Sapan Pasuparthi
Producer: Nalla Praveen Reddy, Nagesh Yada

Krishnudu’s ‘Pappu’ is his latest film after ‘Vinayakudu’ series. Pappu is directed by Sapan Pasuparthi, a debutant director. The story looks unique, but let’s find out ‘Pappu’ movie review to see whether Sapan Pasuparthi handled Krishnudu like Sai Kiran Adivi did?

Story:
Pappu (Krishnudu) is christened as an unlucky chap since childhood. Pappu works for a company owned by Banerjee and everybody in the office ridicules him. Radha (Dipikka) – Banerjee’s daughter also starts working for the company. One night, Radha is abducted by a group, which demands 100 crores to release her.  Banerjee takes the help of detective Ram and Krishnudu (Subba Raju) to trace her daughter. Why did Banerjee particularly choose Pappu? The plot unveils eventually as to how Ram and Pappu successfully saved Radha from the culprits.

Analysis:
Pappu movie, directed by debutant Sapan Pasuparthi comes up with a pretty interesting plot, but he failed to narrate in a gripping way.  When we are making movies like ‘Pappu’, screenplay carries utmost significance which is lacking here. The introduction to Krishnudu is alright since he establishes his character in the first instance, but as the movie progresses, it is not exciting to watch the character since his nature is already established.
‘Pappu’ movie contains few sensibilities like Sai Kiran Adivi’s Vinayakudu’, however, Sapan Pasuparthi failed to make the mark like Sai Kiran Adivi. Krishnudu’s ‘Pappu’ movie is only good in parts with decent humor. Subbaraju has steals the show in this film and in the second half, he even overtakes Krishnudu. The on-screen chemistry between Subbaraju and Krishnudu is very good.
The climax perhaps should have been better and interestingly narrated. The first half is boring and dull where Krishnudu does some juvenile acts. The second focuses around Subba Raju, and the plot where Krishnudu‘s presence adds humor to the story. But that’s not enough to engage the audience as the Pappu movie turns out to be an ordinary film.

Performances:
Krishnudu looks apt for the title ‘Pappu’. His childish gestures are good as well, however, he needs to come out from ‘Vinayakudu’ cover. He also needs to improve his vocals if he wants to strike the commercial market.
Deepika is making her Telugu movie debut and she looks bad. She is a misfit as she lacks glamour and expressions. Telugu audience cannot connect her.
Subba Raju – He’s the best performer I have to say. Subba Raju fits the role of a detective and does very well. His dialogue delivery and body language are great.
Banerjee, Siva Reddy and Uttej are adequate.
All things considered, Krishnudu’s ‘Pappu’ movie is an ordinary movie and there’s nothing great in the movie that prompts you to put a word to others. The exciting plot has gone disappointed with poor execution.

Panchakshari Movie Review

  The Cast and Crew

Anushka Shetty, Vijay Samrat, Bramanandam, Chandra Mohan, Pradeep Rawat, Ali, Raghu Babu, M.S.Narayana, Uttej, Sudha, Telangana Sakuntala, Sana, Jeeva , Nassar,

Director: V.Samudra
Producer: Chandra
Music Director: Chinna

Panchakshari is a paranormal story where a dead woman’s soul descends into a look-alike woman wreaks vengence on the evil doers.

Synopsis:

Panchakshari is born in the temple of Goddess Durga at exactly the same muhurtam as that of the godess. Her parents (Chandra Mohan and Rajitha) and the entire village treat her as a personification of goddess Durga. When Panchakshari (Anushka) grows up, she is married to Sriram (Samrat) of the same village.

The village baddie (Pradeep Rawat) has plans to steal the Durga temple jewels. Thinking that Panchakshari is becoming a hurdle for their plans With the help of Aghora Kundalika (Kamal), She is killed.

By a coincidence, Sriram meets Honey (Anushka) a look-alike of Panchakshari, who is a fashion designer. After listening to the sad story of Panchakshari, she volunteers to go to the village and when she goes there, the soul of Panchakshari descends into the body of Honey and the rest of the story is all about how the baddies are snuffed out and how the temple jewelry is saved.

Anushka, in her double role, carries the entire film on her shoulders. Samrat does not have any screen presence. Chandra Mohan, Pradeep Rawat and Nazar are as usual competent The comedy troupe of Brahmanandam, Ali, MS Narayana et al fail to tickle your funny bone. All others just go through their motions as their roles have not been properly delienated.

The story is as old as any Indian myth and the screenplay does not help the narration to be interesting. Mere special effects do not make any movie worth watching. There is lot of effort, but then you get the feeling of deja vu, seen it somewhere feeling. Technically, the film is good, but the utter predictability makes the film a pain in ypu-know-where.

Panchakshari can safely given a miss unless you are a fan of Anushka.

Rating: 3/5
Banner: Arca Media
Cast: Allu Arjun, Manchu Manoj, Anushka, Manoj Bajpai, Ramulu, Lekha Washington, Deeksha Seth, Seiya, Raghu Babu, Satyam Rajesh, Brahmanandam and others
Music: M M Keeravani
Cinematography: Gnanakumar
Director: Krish
Producers: Devineni Prasad, Yarlagadda Shobu
Release date: June 04, 2010

Story:
A routine tale told differently, the story is about people from different walks of life. There is Cable Raju (allu arjun) who is street smart living in a slum and wanting to marry his rich girlfriend Pooja (deeksha). He acts as if he is also rich guy. Then there is Vivek (Manchu manoj), an aspiring rock star wanting to make it big. There is Saroja (anushka) who wants to come out of Amalapuram and escape so that she can survive on her own and make more money. Then there is Raheem Khureshi (manoj bajpai) who is mistaken to be a terrorist purely for the fact that he is a Muslim. Last but not the least, there is Nagaiah (ramulu) who is desperate to get his grandson educated and decides to donate the kidney of his daughter in law (saranya) to arrange for the funds. Destiny gets them together under one roof and what happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:
The director has come up with a thoughtful storyline but though the presentation was good, the narrative was weak. The dialogues were good, the script was mediocre and the screenplay was not upto the mark. Background score was nice but songs were not. Cinematography is the major asset for this movie. Editing was nice. Costumes and art department did their job effectively. Allu Arjun got a good role and he did justice to it. Manchu Manoj played a mild role but he was competent. Anuska was awesome as usual. Manoj Bajpai was wasted, Ramulu was impressive. Deeksha looks sweet and seductive, Lekha was normal, Seiya was luscious, Brahmi came and went, Raghu Babu was regular, Satyam Rajesh was nice, the others did their bit as required.

Conclusion:
The film is basically an attempt to show the human psychology and how things change as per situation. While the first half goes good and engages the audience, the second half falls down and the climax is not appealing. Technically, the film has been made very well but the makers should have focused on content as well. At the box office, the openings will be splendid due to the hype created but eventually, it will require strong publicity and word of mouth to succeed.

Film: GOLIMAAR
Rating: 2.75/5
Banner: Sri Sai Ganesh Productions
Cast: Gopichand, Priyamani, Kelly Dorjee, Nasser, Roja, Ali, Mukhtar Khan, MS Narayana, Shawar Ali, Jeeva etc
Music: Chakri
Cinematographer: Shyam K Naidu
Director: Puri Jagannadh
Producer: Bellamkonda Suresh
Release Date: May 27, 2010

Story:
An action packed tale, the story begins with Gangaram (gopi) whose sole dream in life is to become a cop. With hard work he does become a policeman and owing to his brave acts, he gets promoted as an encounter specialist. He is given a mission to clean the gangs of Khaleel (kelly) and Saleem (shawar). Gangaram gets going with his act and becomes famous as well, he also meets Pavitra (priyamani) and both of them fall in love. However, there are those rotten apple in the department who frame him and try to get him out of the way. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:
The director has come up with a routine tale of violence and both the presentation and narrative were okay. The script was regular, the screenplay was not that engaging. Background score was good, one song was worthy. Cinematography was standard, not good nor bad either. Editing was crisp. Costumes were alright and art department was impressive. Gopichan did his bit as required and made his presence felt, Priyamani was voluptuous and gave the visual feast wherever required. Kelly Dorjee was classy, Nasser was natural, Mukhthar Khan was okay, Ali was not used to the fullest, Jeeva was brief.

Conclusion:
The film is basically an inspiration from the life of Daya Naik, the noted encounter specialist and though the makers tried their best to put it in pace and action, it was not upto the mark. While the first half goes about in a smooth fashion, the second half gets into a bit of a drag before the unusual twist takes place and culminates into a predictable climax. As such, the film is a commercial entertainer and there is not much of content or entertaining elements. At the box office, it will be an average entertainer.

Verdict: Just an Average movie nothing new.

Young India Movie Review

Posted on 18 May 2010 at 10:58pm

An aimless tale, the story begins with a group of youngsters Abhi, Venky, Razzaq, Rai who want to commit suicide but are saved by another girl who hears their flashback. Her father Rangaiah Naidu (dasari) is an SP and he gives them accommodation and a new life. He gives them six months and tells them to do something good and then think about dying. What starts as a journey to do good becomes a movement called 'Young India'. However, there are the regular share of villains trying to cause trouble. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:

The director has come up with a rotten tale and both the presentation and narrative were disappointing. The dialogues were weak, the script was shallow and the screenplay was pathetic. Background score was okay and only one song was alright. Cinematography was very poor, editing was just okay. Costumes and art department didn't have much to do. As usual, it is a Dasari show as he shows his eccentricity now and then in his Tamil accent. The youngsters put in their best efforts to make use of the opportunity given but time will tell whether they made an impact or not. Brahmanandam was annoying, the villains were all from the TV circuit so they did a good job.

Conclusion:

The film is attempted to create awareness among the youngsters but more than that, it will give a negative impact. While the first half goes about with some bizarre sequences, the second half gets into the routine commercial manner and in no time, the audience is seen twitching in their seats and scratching their heads. The film by no means will appeal to any genre of audience and it will sink in no time at the box office.

Bharatstudent Verdict : Terrible!!

Rating: 3./5

The Story Line:

Its a story about a father and son.Prabhas is a graduate who is interested in music. His junior in college is Shradha Das , daughter of a strong man Mukesh Rushi proposes him, but Prabhas rejects her love.which leads her to suicide attempt . Her father forces prabhas to marry his daughter , Then prabhas narrates his story of lady love Nandini (Kajal Agarwal) . And the rest you need to watch on screen whether that story is real or a drama to escape and who is nandini & how prabhas wins his lady love.

Most of the Prabhas dressing is inspired from his movie billa. He does a pretty good job but this is not definitely one of his best movies. Kajal Agarwal is as usual looks at her best and her costumes are excellent. She is one to watch the movie for. Shradda das doesn;t has much role. Mukesh Rushi doubles as villan and a comedian.Prabhu and Tulasi did little to their roles but did complement themselves well

The Bottom Line:

Not one of the best  Karunakaran’s movies. He could have done much better. Do go with high expectations. Good for watching once. .

1977 Movie Review

Posted on 20 Apr 2010 at 10:40pm

Cast : Sarath Kumar, Farzana, Namitha, Jayasudha, Vivek,Rohith, Radha Ravi, Rajkotti, Vijayakumar, Ilavarasu and Others
Music : Vidyasagar
Cinematography : Bhupathy
Producer: R Sarath Kumar
Director: G N Dhinesh Kumar

Story:

A racy tale, the story begins on the backdrop of a small village in Tamilnadu and this has Rajashekar (Sarath) who is more like a god to all the villagers. He does noble deeds and wins the goodwill of the people. Even his son Vetrivel (Sarath) is a noted scientist who has won accolades from government and made his village folks proud. Life goes smoothly but one day Rajashekar sees a news report in TV on a particular issue that took place in Malaysia and much to everyone’s dismay gets a heart attack and dies. Shocked by this, Vetrivel begins to figure out the cause for this, he decides to go to Malaysia and there he takes the help of the local news reporter Inba (Farzana). Inba falls for Vetrivel instantly and also helps him in his search, at the same time he also takes the help of Chandini (Namitha) who is the daughter of a former Public Prosecutor. In this, Vetrivel discovers that his father was actually a cop in Malaysia and he gets framed wrongly in a case and also loses his family, that’s what gets him to Tamilnadu. How does Vetrivel resolve the issues and bring the baddies to justice forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:

The director has come up with a racy storyline and though he has worked well on the presentation, the narrative could have been better. The dialogues were alright, the script was written with few interesting twists, screenplay was okay. Music was suiting the environment and few numbers were good. Cinematography captured the angles and locations perfectly. Editing could have been crisper and it would have helped the movie. Sarath Kumar came up with a very good performance and he shouldered the film very well, Namitha did her job perfectly and oozed out the oomph and glamour in a very big way. Farzana was apt to her role and fitted the bill, Jayasudha was natural, Radha Ravi was effective, Vivek could not generate the laughs this time. The others did their bit.

Conclusion:
The film has been more of a stylish and slick presentation and though the content was lacking depth and flavor, the screenplay did its bit to keep things going. While the first half was all about the melodrama and sentiment, the second half took the action mode and there is enough glamour to keep the mass audience entertained. The film has got the right kind of commercial elements but it could have been a lot better if the quality and the content was worked on. The film will turn out to be a decent profit maker at the box office.

Fast paced masala flick, good feast for Namitha, Farzana fans

‘Prasthaanam’ Movie Review

Cast: Sharwanand, Sandeep Kishan, Sai Kumar, Ruby Parihar, Jeeva, Jayaprakash Reddy, Vennela Kishore, Surekha Vani, Reshma, Ghosh, Master Atulith, Balayya, and others
Music: Mahesh Shankar
Editing: Marthand K Venkatesh
Cinematography: Shyam Dutt
Produced by: Vallabhaneni Ravi
Written and directed by: Deva Katta
Release date: April 16, 2010
CBFC Rating: A

What’s it about

Lokanatham Naidu (Saikumar) is a henchman to a local leader in Krishna district. When rivals attack the leader’s son, he marries his wife and adopts his son Mitra (Sharwanad) and daughter (Surekha Vani) as his and becomes a big politician in Vijayawada in later years. Now his biological son Shiva (Sandeep) gets jealous of Mitra, for getting all the support from his father and becoming a leader. Shiva hates his brother as his father constantly humiliates him for his wrong doings. One day, he kills his girlfriend Nadia accidentally that sets the motion of series of events, which also kill him. In a stunning climax, the secrets in the family reveal.

Analysis:

Greed, politics and greedy politics are the backdrop of the story. Director Deva Katta who tasted success with his very debut movie, Vennela has chosen a story that is completely different from his first flick. He should be appreciated for picking up a story that treads unique path than the regular political potboilers. Prasthanam is told in more serious way than normal commercial films and layered with philosophical tone. What makes the film tick is the gritty narration and solid plot. If only the pace of the film were tighter, the film could have been even better. Although second half is slow, the pre-climax sequences are stunning. Superb dialogues are its strength. Added to that, excellent cinematography has elevated the mood of the movie.
The influence of Ram Gopal Varma’s Sarkar can be seen on director Deva Katta in the scenes of Mitra Vs Shiva. And also the climax sequences slowly unraveling to tell a more stunning secret resemble to that of Sarkar Raj.

It has its own share of blemishes too. Two songs in the post interval come as obstacle to the free flow of the narration. And also when the focus of the movie is all about revealing the secrets and conspiracies, the director has wasted much of the time on Surekha Vani and Sandeep episodes, thereby diluting the impact. The director also seems to have confused as to how to fit romantic angle in the narration. That is clearly evident.
On the whole, it is a good attempt by director Deva Katta. Audiences who enjoy serious films would certainly like this one.

Performances:

Sharwanand has done full justice to his role. As the character requires composure and maturity, Sharwanad has grown his beard and maintained the serious look throughout the movie. But it is the other guy, newcomer Sandeep Kishan that steals the show as the bad son. After a long time, we get to see Sai Kumar in a restrained role. His role is more complex one but the senior actor pulls it off effortlessly. Thanks to his great dialogue delivery, many of the dialogues he sounded are really good. New heroine Ruby has not much role to catch our attention. Jayaprakash Reddy provides comic relief. Reshma as Nadia looks good.
One of the highlights is Shyam Dutt ’s camera, he has brought unique tone to the movie in sync with the theme of the movie. As the movie has dark secrets, he has given enough room to highlight the ‘dark’ in shots as metaphor. Music by Mahesh Shankar is equally good. Editing is nice. As a director, Deva Katta has matured a lot and has shown that he is capable of directing varied themes. His dialogues and screenplay are also good. But this time he has not used comedy as effectively. Production values are first rate.

Bottom-line!
Prasthanam treads different path within the regular commercial setup of films. It has got enough drama and powerful characters to keep the story flowing. Stunning climax, superb dialogues and good technical values are appealing.

Music: S A Rajkumar
Cinematography: Shaman Mitru
Producers: N V Prasad and S. Naga Ashok Kumar
Banner: Sri Saideva Productions

Rating: 2 out of 5

Chandu (Taneesh) and Kaveri (Suhasini) are child hood first cousin. Chandu does not study but does odd jobs and gives the money to Kaveri to study. He hopes to marry her after she completes her education. Kaveri completes her academic career and quietly marries another person.
A dejected Chandu happens to meet Sandhya (Madhurima) who is cheated by her father Vishwnatham’s (Chandramohan) business partners and her father is killed. She aspires to design a two wheeler.
The rest of the story is how Chandu and Sandhya help each other and realize their respective goals in life.

The Performances
Taneesh is good in parts, but he could not justify his role because of lack of an author backed role. Suhasini’s character is more like cameo and she does not have much of opportunity to showcase her thespian talents. Madhurima essays her role with such an aplomb that this movie can be seen for her confident performance. Nalla Venu goes through his motions and he cannot express without punch in the dialoges or sense in the scenes. Master Bharath is impressive. Chandramohan, Prasad Babu, Kamesh, MS Narayana, Kashi Vishwanath, Ali and AVS are their usual mature selves as actors with authority. All others are just props.
The Techniques
The story is a an oft travelled formula road in Telugu film industry. The screenplay has such flaws that you may be induced into snoring once in a while. The dialogues lack the luster of proper communication. Technically, the film being a low budget one, does not impress you with audio-visual brilliance. Music of the film has nothing to write about. Sound design is unimpressive. Cinematography is dented by poor editing.

The Verdict
Avoid long queues at the theatre ticket counters and wait for its telecast in some TV channel or the other.

Title: Allu Arjun Varudu Movie Review
Casting: Allu Arjun, Bhanusree Mehra, Arya, Ashish Vidyarthi, Suhasini, Naresh, Vinaya, Nasser, Rao Ramesh, Sayaji Shinde, Ahuti Prasad, Brahmanandam, Singeetam Srinivasa Rao, Anita Chowdary and others
Music: Mani Sharma
Producer: D V V Danayya
Director: Gunasekhar
Rating:
Date of Release: March 31, 2010

Synopsis Story
Sandeep (Allu Arjun) is the only son of lovely couple Gopi and Vasundhara (Ashish Vidyarthi and Suhasini). Sandeep is not the regular kind of college going guy who loves to fall in love again and again. e enjoys partying with friends in pubs but has due respect towards our culture and traditions. As Sandeep has secured the Visa to fly the USA, his parents decide to find the right match and were surprised to know that their son believes only in arranged marriage.
Sandeep even loves to follow the old customs and forces their parents to arrange for a five days marriage that too by keeping the bride in real suspense as he wants to see her only during the time of wedding. s the bride Deepthi (Bhanu Sri Mehra) is now selected by Gopi and Vasundhara; entire family battalion now lands in her village for the marriage occasion and celebrations are on.

During the magical moment of ‘Jeela Karra Bellam;’ Sandeep and Deepthi face each other and were instantly in love (This is USP of the movie). During the final ritual in their marriage villain Diwakar (Arya) makes his entry and elopes Deepthi.Diwakar and Prabhakar (Ahuthi Prasad) are cruel brothers who have eyed on the beauty of Deepthi. When Police officers (Nazar and Rao Ramesh) were strucked in a pity situation unable to help, Sandeep himself enters the battle and finishes Prabhakar to win his ‘Vadhuvu.’

Performances:

Allu Arjun, given his highly energetic image, this comes across as a mild character which was etched out poorly so the flair of Allu Arjun is missing. He needs to work on his dialogue delivery as a lot of accent is surfacing.

Bhanu Mehra is not worth the mystery. Barring the beauty spot on her chin and expressive eyes, there is not much from her in terms of glamour or performance.
Arya has a strong screen presence and powerful eyes but then his role was not drawn properly and he was not used to the fullest potential. However, he brought some life to the movie at few places.

Brahmi was waste, so was Ahuti Prasad, the others like Ashish Vidyarthi, Suhasini, Naresh, Vinaya were just for brand value and they didn’t have much to offer. Singeetam Sreenivasa Rao, the senior director did his bit as required. Lavakusha Nagaraju appears in a single frame. Nasser was natural, Sayaji Shinde was brief, Rao Ramesh came and went. The other bunch of real time families and supporting artistes were there to fill the screen, that’s all.

Analysis:
The film created a lot of hype regarding its proper Telugu wedding and the heroine factor but both of them have turned out to be a damp squib. The film takes off on a wrong footing and there is no voltage in it. The second half gets
further complicated and the final nail on the head is hit with the bizarre climax.
Barring few places where the technical values are good, the film has nothing at all and the blame is completely the director’s. Despite having lavish budget and efficient cast, he has not been able to deliver a proper product
